In which i am kickin myself over….and over..and over

So today Uganda’s numero Uno diplomat Hon.Sam Kutesa presented a lecture on issues back home and it was entitled ‘The role of Africa in the developing world with reference to Uganda’ and suprise, suprise ….it was not about CHOGM!!! It was a small venue in Chatham House and it was a well organised event. Uncle Sam(for lack of a better title) is a very eloquent and meticulous speaker. He is very witty and has numerous jokes that kept the audience reeling with laughter and dude knows his stuff! All his figures were accurate and his quotes were interjected rightfully throughout his lecture. But this post is not about Uncle is about meeting the big capuccino…Uganda’s almost numero uno in the coffee business..yeap..Andrew Rugasira himself! He is taller than I expected, clean shaven and wears nice cologne, pink shirt and dark blue cardigan with black trousers is what he was cladding. So anyway, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the uno expresso of Uganda and i wasted it, after months and months of rehearsing my ‘when i meet Andrew Rugasira’ speech i blundered..this is how it went;

 Joshi(smiles widely, walks up to him with a big handshake):Andrew Rugasira right?

Andrew:Yes, I are you?

Joshi:I am very well, Joshua N————— is my name..your the guy in the coffee business..very impressive, I am actually gobsmacked at what you do..

Andrew:haha..(modest laugh)..thank you..and what do you do? do you live here?

Joshi:I am student and yes i live here..

Andrew:Excellent..and what are you doing

Joshi:mentions course..(this is where i start to heap praises, suck up to him and ask him how he did it..and also ask some other relevant questions but my brain switches off..)

 Anyway, I was disappointed with myself, i should have asked some more questions seeing as he was just chilling as we walked towards the exit. I stood outside wondering what my next move should be, still didnt hit me. Anyway, as I was standing outside, i feel a tap on my shoulder and guess who it is, the big capuccino..we shake hands and i wish him the best..he returns the good fortune by saying ..’Goodluck with school and everything’..yeap..the big capuccino wished me luck….

Their is some reality tv show about millionaires in Kabale…i watched the show and i will keep you guys posted about what happens…stay tuned…

have a great week y’all..

…a luta continua…

    Like I just said to you earlier my friend, I think this man is made of the stuff that Africa’s next breed of leaders should be made of.
    Totally resplendent! And I’m not getting started again on 50% of the coffee trade profits filtering back through the Rwenzori region back home, or the economic medicine that kills. & don’t kick yourself lad, you did fine for a first one. But one thing that interests me though, do you notice how even in the presence of those other folk, even the pearl’s top diplomat, some people still stand out from the crowd. I’m starting to think, A.R. shouldn’t define himself to particular circles, if you know what i mean? Politics can spoil a good game (no pun intended!). Good day.

    The Big Cappuccino was my Boss for a year … and even then, I was not one for words with him … But then I am pleased you are good and do not worry. You stepped up to him, said your piece and kept your dignity … Unlike that 27th Guy who would have embarrassed all Blogren by asking for money!!

    @27th: that is sooooo Ugandan.
    @Joshi: the Big Cappuccino(i like)is one of the most modest men i know…you’ll probably meet him in future,ask him for coffee,and tell him about how you kicked yourself over this incident but it won’t matter then becasue you’ll be a big askari somewhere yourself!

    and he said: Amen!
